Trough structure

A trough is an object consisting of a base and walls. The cross section is U shape. In the field of construction this shape is used when e.g. traffic routes are lower than the surrounding ground or lead through areas with a high ground-water table, noise protection requirements have to be observed, etc. After excavating the pit, the trough is made either using prefabricated components or the base and walls are poured on site. The selection of the concrete complies with the conditions and requirements, as e.g. waterproof concrete in marshland or underwater concrete at port facilities, etc. After completion of the work, the trough can be covered completely (e.g. tunnel ceiling) or partly (e.g. bridge).
