Solvent based epoxy resin

The solids content of solvent-based epoxy resins is less than that of solvent-free epoxy resins. If the solvent-free epoxy resin is applied twice, the solvent-based epoxy resin must be applied several times to achieve a comparable coating thickness. As the solvent must be allowed to volatilise after each application to avoid bubble formation, a waiting time of up to several hours is required (manufacturers’ instructions) between the individual coatings. If applied in closed rooms, an adequate ventilation must be ensured, as the solvents appropriate for resins affect health.
