Viscosity measurement with the flow cup

The viscosity of a fluid is determined by metering the efflux quantity per efflux time [mm²/s] out of the orifice of a standardised flow cup (e.g. DIN 53 211, DIN EN ISO 2431, ASTM D 5125). The quite simple method provides quick results and is appropriate for fluids, as e.g. paints and coatings, oil, etc. For measuring the viscosity of suspensions, a funnel-type flow cup, the so-called funnel, is used.
