Wood preservation / Dry rot prevention

Wood preservation comprises all measures preventing the destruction of wood or wood constructions. The control must be carried by authorised experts only. Normally a superficial treatment is not enough so that injection methods have to be applied.

Material to be used

Please, refer to the list of approved wood preservatives by DIBt (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik). (This text is a translation of the German version and does not consider local building codes or legal requirements of other country.)

Some aims of wood preservation and dry rot

  • Protection against insect attack and fungal decay
  • Insect control and control of fungal decay
  • Improvement of structural fire protection
  • Increase of resistance against fungus or insect attack
  • Increase of durability
  • Protection against negative influence of water and
    humidity
  • Protection against dry rot attack (masonry)

Recommendations

  • For wood preservation and dry rot prevention experts authorized according to DIN 68800 should furnish a technical inspection report together with a restoration concept
  • The compatibility of wood preservatives with mortar should be verified by laboratory tests
  • Further recommendations can be taken from WTA data sheets

Advantages and benefits

  • Pressure injection allows optimal distribution in wood and masonry
  • Spray coating and foam coating offer optimal distribution on surfaces and in gaps
  • Standardised injection technique and packer assortment
  • Special packers can be manufactured according to the individual application
  • Injection devices and injection packers are combined with the respective material

Foam method

Dry rot is an aggressive wood-destroying fungus and poses a serious threat to the preservation of various buildings. Combating the fungus can be a huge challenge, especially in hard-to-reach cavities.

Our foam nozzle head enables targeted material application to professionally pre-treated masonry and timber surfaces. This is done in just one work step for both multi-layered structures and structures with cavities. The material is mixed with air (compressor) to produce a foam that can be applied using the screw lance supplied and many injection devices.
The foam has excellent adhesion to the building material, penetrates slowly and thus develops an effective effect.

No spilling, no dripping - low material loss!

Advantage/Information

  • Well-directed material application in one working cycle
  • The material sticks to the building material so that it is allowed to penetrate over a longer time
  • Minimal material loss
  • Can be used for all injection devices
  • Multi-shell masonry or masonry with hollows and voids
  • Active substances are applied on surfaces of wood and masonry
