Mortar

The basic ingredients of mortar are: sand, water, and binders. The classic binders are lime or cement as well as a lime-cement mixture. The addition of corresponding admixtures grants modern mortar particular properties, e.g. fire protection, thermal insulation, etc. According to its use a distinction is made between: masonry mortars, joint mortars, rendering/plastering mortars, screed mortars, and synthetic resin mortar, which grants mortar specific properties due to its admixtures.
