Masonry type

Basically there are two general differences: Walls erected of stones without using mortar, so-called dry walls; the masonry bond is achieved be the pressure and the interlocking of the stones. Walls built of stones and mortar; the mortar increases the masonry bond. The many different types of masonry are identified e.g. according to the type of construction (multi-wythe wall, cavity wall), function (retaining wall), materials used (quarry stone masonry), pattern bond (regular/irregular layered masonry) etc.
