CE Marking / CE Declaration of Conformity
Products traded on the European market have to meet the applicable European requirements. By the CE marking (Communauté Européenne ≈ European Community) the manufacturer declares the conformity of his product (non-European origin as well) with the corresponding European guidelines. The conformity evaluation procedures may be performed by the manufacturer himself, the salesperson or other persons/institutes assigned, however, the test results must be made available. Consequently, the CE Marking does not necessarily guarantee that the evaluation of conformity was made by an independent, certified test institute nor is it a sign of quality and origin. Only for some products the CE Marking is subject to prior safety-related testing by an independent inspection authority.
