Grinding fineness of cement

The grinding fineness of cement is defined by the Blaine value and refers to the surface of the cement particles per gram. The Blaine value of standard cements is between 3.000 and 3.500 cm²/g. The finer the cement particles the higher the surface of the cement at same volume. The grinding fineness influences the strength development, water demand, bulk (powder) density, sensitivity to storing, and the heat. The higher the Blaine value the finer and of higher quality the cement; cement of high early strength CEM I 52.5 has a Blaine value of about 5.000 cm²/g.
