Waterproof structural concrete element (white Tank)

For making structural concrete elements waterproof, a concrete must be used and weak spots, unavoidable due to construction as e.g. joints, must be sealed so that they as well show a high resistance to water passage. For the White Tank utilisation class A resp. 1 is applicable: “Water passage in liquid form is not allowed. Wet patches on the surface due to water penetration must be excluded.” For other buildings, as e.g. park decks, utilisation class B resp. 2 is adequate: “Wet patches in the area of separation cracks, cross sections of controlled cracks and joints are allowable.”
