Thermoplastic (thermomer)

Thermoplastics consist of polymer chains without chemical cross-links. Thus, the polymer chains are easy to move. Thermoplastics soften/melt when heated so that they can be formed or deformed easily and they will keep this shape when cooled down. Thermoplastics can be soft or hard. In order to make hard thermoplastics formable, so-called plasticisers are used. Thermoplastics are e.g. polyamide (PA), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
